Student Mental Health Screening
1,000 Students Screened
In the first phase of the beMINDful 2025 project, a total of 1,000 Form 3 students from four secondary schools were assessed using the DASS-21 questionnaire, covering the domains of depression, anxiety, and stress. Findings revealed that 80.5% (811 students) presented at least mild to extremely severe symptoms in one or more domains, confirming their eligibility for BeMindful support programs. Only 19.5% of students were found to be within the normal range. This underscores the urgent need for school-based mental health interventions.

Next Steps and Planned Impact
Building on these findings, the project will deliver 720 clinical psychological sessions and doctor reviews for referrals, alongside awareness programs during school assemblies to ensure targeted care for at-risk students. As of August 2025, 40% of the planned sessions have already been conducted, marking strong progress toward the year-end target.
The project’s broader impact is reflected through the following achievements and commitments:
- 4 schools targeted for intervention
- 12 awareness campaigns conducted
- 1,000 students screened
- 720 clinical psychological sessions planned until December 2025
- 32 mental health practitioners and volunteers mobilized
Voices from the Ground
Feedback from students and teachers highlights the positive impact of the program. One student shared, “This program really helped me understand myself and taught me better ways to deal with my emotions.” A teacher echoed this sentiment, noting, “Banyak energizer yang menarik minat pelajar” (Students were very engaged by the energizers and fun activities).
These testimonials demonstrate that beyond assessments and clinical sessions, beMINDful 2025 is also fostering greater self-awareness, resilience, and student engagement in the schools we serve.
